Do 2014 So, So Right
Charm is the ability to make someone else think that both of
you are pretty wonderful. – Kathleen Winsor
Hello friends! I love the above quote, don't you? I
want to spend 2014 with that quote in the back of my mind at all times. I think
it makes us constantly conscious of others, and how we are interacting with
others. I love New Years because it is my favorite time to refresh, revitalize
and renew my life. 2013 has been absolutely incredible, and I can't
wait to see what happens in 2014.
I am starting off this January with a bang! For my
Christmas present, Dylan and I took a romantic winter getaway to Lake George.
It was the best way to kick off 2014 (last year we kicked off 2013 with Lake
Placid!).
On January 22nd, I am Abu Dhabi bound! I have been accepted
as a delegate for NYU Abu Dhabi's Global Initiative Network solving Global
Poverty! I am so thrilled and excited to be taking part in this conference, and
hopefully making progress towards our goal of helping others escape lives of
poverty.
In the meantime, I head back to NYC on Wednesday to spend
the rest of my winter vacation working at Cosmo! I am officially spending
another semester interning at my favorite magazine in the world. I am so
honored and blessed to be able to spend more time cultivating my editorial
skills, and making connections with some of the smartest, most compassionate
and lovely women I have ever known.
I thought for this first post of 2014, I would share some of
my Golden Globe picks with you, as I am a die-hard film & television fan.
On tonight's agenda: Downton Abbey premier - even more excited now that Lady
Edith came to Cosmo a few months ago!

It has been an incredible year in film and
television! I think the toughest category this year is Best
Television Drama...damn look at those contenders! Is it embarrassing that
I've seen every episode of all of them....
• Whenever you feel down in 2014, just
remember that WE ALL DO sometimes. One small read that cheered me up was a How
Sweet It Is post about all of her recipe fails throughout the year.
It is hysterical, and reminds me that the little things should not ruin an
entire day, or year!
• We all tell ourselves that we are going
to either lose weight, work out more, etc. in the new year. But how about
just eating clean? I love Harper Bazaar's post on Eating Clean to Cleanse Your Diet.
• January just makes me want soup,
okay? There is no other explanation for why I'm sharing these 15 Healthy Soup Recipes.
• Part of starting the New Year the
correct way is accepting what you are, and what you are not. I have come
to the final conclusion that I am actually an introvert. GASP! Although I am
talkative, work hard and am always on the go, that does not mean I am an
extrovert. The idea of going out to a club vs. reading a good book and eating
chinese food at home is NOT EVEN A QUESTION. This article in the Huffington Post helped me find
my way.
And speaking of the Huffington Post, here is a
picture of me and Arianna Huffington at the Cosmo 100 Luncheon! I was standing
outside with the guest list, so I made it into a bunch of background pics!
Really impressive, no?
• The Man Repeller completely and
utterly understands my shopping addiction. If you are a fellow shopper, this is a Must-Read. I mean, even Leo
DiCaprio somehow makes it in (and if you don't love him after he plays the Wolf
then you are not human). I am going to try to spend less money in
2014...try.
• And, finally, let's all just try to
let life wash over us a little more in 2014. Go with the flow.
Be flexible. Accept spontaneity. And eat a damn cookie like this one once in
a blue moon (or two).
